Faerie Dust and Glitter

One of my biggest obsessions over the years has definitely become make up, especially eye make up. At one point in my life (i.e. my high school to early college years), I would get up every morning before classes and put on make up. I even had an inspiration eye shadow portfolio going on for a while...one of my many projects you'll see on here.

Over the past two years or so, I've gotten off the dependence on make up as a necessity and made it more of a lifestyle choice. Today, I wanted something simple, so I tried this look:

Sorry this is a bit blurry. My fringe was giving me so many problems!

Face

My face has has some dry patches lately, so hopefully the Olay lotion will help with that. I'll keep you posted with progress. The Sephora matte foundation is one of my favourites so far. It looks pretty natural as long as you don't overdo it and it is blended well. I use it as eyeshadow sometimes as well.

Eyes

For my eyes, I used these two brushes. One is a highlighter/ blending brush (top) and the other is an angled brush (bottom). I recommend getting brushes similar to these, even if you start out with little cheapy ones like these. They are especially useful if you have powder shadow or pigments.

Now I mixed two different types of eye shadow which makes it a little awkward. The pink is a creamy eye shadow and the silver is loose pigment. I love my pigments. NYX is on the cheaper side for those who want to start experimenting but don't have the money for pigments like MAC. I dream to one day afford many MAC pigments, but until then, my shimmery NYX will do.

Anyway, back to the make up! I'm not sure how I feel about the pink yet. It's lightly pigmented, but makes your eyes look a little bit rosy. It does, however, make a wonderful primer for the pigment to stick to, so that is a plus.

I finished the look with a touch of mascara and liquid eye liner, both by Maybelline. Now, I was never really a mascara person because I didn't like the gloppy-ness (is that even a word?) of it. But I absolutely ADORE this particular mascara and how it looks. Also, the liquid eyeliner is my favourite. When it says it's waterproof, I mean I can take a shower and have it stay on. It's also really easy to take off (usually I can just rub or peel it off when I want to). It is affordable and creates a solid line, unlike a lot of watery liquid eyeliners that I have tried. I have been buying it for at least 4 years now.

Lips

Finally, I finished off the look with this tinted lip balm. I have several of the colours and they are very much what I am into right now (though if you have good lipstick suggestions I would be glad to hear them). They are well pigmented AND they are a chapstick as well. I would highly recommend just trying them out.

Well, that's it for now. I'm actually happy with how the look came out. (Shocking, I know). I leave you with this final picture:

And yes, I own a One Direction calendar.

Make up = Expression.
