Feel better: Getting Over a Cold
Blogmas: Day 9
It's that time of year again and no, for once I'm not talking about Christmastime. As the weather gets colder, it seems that everyone comes down with a cold. So if you wake up feeling poorly, as I did this morning, here are some things that could help you feel better and maybe get you over your cold faster.
Eat something
It's super important to keep your body nourished so it has nutrients to keep you from being super fatigued. Plus, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so eat up!

Take a Hot Shower
Taking a hot shower definitely helps you feel better. You're washing that sick feeling off of you and you realize that this is the only place that helps you breathe because your nose isn't stuffed up. You can thank the steam for that.

Warm, Comfy Clothing
Let's face it: who doesn't want to wear warm comfy clothing when it's cold and you're feeling poorly?

Eat Soup
I'm sure this is more of a psychological thing, but soup always makes me feel better. It also helps when my throat feels perpetually dry (no matter how much water I drink). Soup is warm and filling while the broth is easy to swallow, especially if your throat is sore.

Drinks Lots of Liquid
If you want something warm you can drink hot tea. Add lemon for extra vitamin c and honey for a sore throat. It is super important to stay hydrated (this goes for all the time, but especially while you are sick) so be sure to drink lots of water. Yet another thing you can add lemon to.

Take Vitamins
Vitamin C is important to your immune system so stock up on it. You can take vitamins or eat vitamin rich foods or both. Oranges, kiwis, strawberries, broccoli, kale, red bell peppers and papaya. have a ton of vitamin c. Fun fact: oranges have less vitamin c than everything else in that list.

Plenty of Rest
Make sure you allow yourself to get plenty of rest so your body can fight off the cold. I know it's not always possible to get a full 7-8 hours, but your immune system is weakened when you consistently get a crap night's sleep so treat yourself for once because hey, you're sick, so why not?

Stay healthy, lovies! If any of you are sick, then feel better and I hope this helps :) What do you do to feel better when you are feeling poorly? Also, any tips on how to beat a cold faster? I have work tomorrow haha
love always,
xo
