Wanderlust: Christmas Destinations

Wanderlust: Christmas Destinations

Happy 16th day of blogmas!

I have officially been back in the United States for an entire year (well an entire year and 1 day). I got back last December 15, 2012 and although I took a quick two week jaunt back to Europe in May, I have actually gone through the motions of living in American society for a year.

It is absolutely terrifying to think that I won't be living in Europe as a student anymore, but hopefully I will call it home again one day.

Anywayyyy, so this got me thinking of all the places that I want to see during Christmas time (since I could never afford to travel around during break and came back to the States). So here's my list!

London

In case I've never told you, I absolutely adore London and therefore want to see it all the time. It looks so cozy and spirited during the holidays; plus, I want to see the British Christmas spirit and how it compares to America.

New York City

This one is a bit of a cheat seeing as I have been here during Christmastime (rather a lot actually). This year I kind of want to go around and find the most Christmassy things to see and do so other people can enjoy it as much as me :) Really, I do believe this is one of those cities that should be seen year-round.

Lapland, Finland

Okay, so maybe I wouldn't want to go here in the winter time as the temperatures would probably be the death of me. But I would like to see Santa's Village at some point in my life. Maybe it's open year round? If not, I've braved it across the arctic circle once, I'm sure I could do it again.

Colmar, France

Honestly, this place just oozes Christmassy charm. With the lights, the quaint atmosphere, and the Black Forest Christmas Market, who wouldn't want to check it out?

Edinburgh, Scotland

I would very much like to see Christmastime in Scotland. I am a Scottish girl after all ;)

Dublin, Ireland

While I'm over there, why not see how the Irish celebrate? I also would like to see them at St. Patrick's Day (super cliché, I know)

Dubai

Last year, my two friends went to Dubai in December and I cannot even begin to express how jealous I was. I had already bought my plane ticket home so I didn't go with them. Plus I literally had to move ALL of my stuff out of my dorm and find a way to get it back to America. Not a fun time. Maybe I will get to go there (maybe soon) with them :)

I also want to go somewhere in the southern hemisphere just to see what's it's like to have a hot Christmas haha. I was thinking either Australia or South Africa.

Let me know if there's any place you would add or suggest!

love always,
xo
