Homemade Christmas Gifts

Homemade Gifts

Blogmas Day 18

Okay so sometimes I know that "homemade" sounds like "stingy" but there really are wonderfully thoughtful homemade gifts out there that something store bought could not even begin to compare to.

Truffles & Candies

Truffles and candies are perfect little gifts for everyone you know. You can wrap them in cute little packaging and customize them with different flavours. I wrote my love of truffles in this post and actually made a batch including tips and tricks in this post. Besides truffles, peppermint bark, muddy buddies, and chocolate covered pretzels are also delicious gift ideas.

Cookies

Let's face it: it's the holiday season which is practically known for its cookies. So why not spread a little holiday cheer by giving cookies as presents? Plus if you put them in tins, they really hit home with that Christmassy charm.

Cookie Mix

Another great idea is to make these cute cookie mix jars. You layer the ingredients and give the giftee the instructions on how to make them. I love this idea because you can whip up a batch of homemade cookies with very little effort. Plus, you can make them AFTER you devour all the Christmas cookies you already made for the holiday season ;)

Hot Chocolate Mixes

This goes along the same lines as the cookie mix, but there are soooo many possibilities with hot cocoa. I always stop and look through the cute packaging of "fancy" holiday hot chocolate in the stores. They always catch my eye with the flavours, packaging, and creativity of it all.

Knitted Items

Tis the season... to keep warm. Knitted things are perfect winter gifts for people. I wrote about a few ideas in my post yesterday.

Collage Boards

These are especially cute for kids going off / returning to school. When I was at university, my sister made me two of these and I absolutely loved them. They were little memories that I could bring with me. :)

Pillows

Pillows, sachets, seat covers, stuffed animals, blankets, etc. Simple sewing and cute fabric can go a long way. Perfect comfy and cuddly gifts for those cold snowy days.

Customized Clothing

Tee Shirts, Sweatshirts, Aprons, you name it! It's super easy to go to a craft store and buy the iron on transfers to create a customized shirt or what have you. If you feel so inclined, you could even make the clothing. (I made pajama pants for my friend back in high school and customized them with our inside jokes). While she probably doesn't have them anymore, as she has revoked the wearing of pants for the most part haha, she definitely loved them at the time.

Another idea if you're feeling artsy is to buy a pair of white shoes and paint them. That is really personalized and a way to show off your art and personality.

Yes, I painted these shoes. I still wear them too haha ;)

What kind of presents are you giving people this year (homemade or not) ?

love always,
xo
